Educational Talent Search (ETS)
What is TRIO Educational Talent Search (ETS)?
The TRIO Educational Talent Search program is funded by the U.S. Department of Education and is designed to motivate and prepare low-income, first-generation college students for success in postsecondary education (trade school, community college, or 4-year university). All services are provided at no cost to students and their families.
What are the expectations for students in TRIO ETS?
ETS students must meet with a TRIO ETS Outreach Specialist once a month for a college/career workshop. Students must also demonstrate the potential to succeed in post-secondary education whether that is pursuing a trade school, community college, or 4-year university.
What criteria do students need to meet to join TRIO ETS?
As a federally funded program, TRIO Educational Talent Search must adhere to guidelines established by the Federal government. Previously, participants were required to be U.S. citizens or Permanent Residents. However, a new waiver through The California Higher Education Collaborative now allows the ARC TRIO ETS program to enroll students regardless of their citizenship status.
Two-thirds of students must meet federal low-income guidelines and be a first-generation college student.
The other 1/3 of students can be any student enrolled at a target school site.
Students must also demonstrate the potential to succeed in post-secondary education.
Participants must submit an application for acceptance into the program.
